in honor of our growing circle of Gratitude,
'how does a circle grow? what gives it a go?' hmmmmm ...
i wonder. might it be the 'g' word? let's make it so.
imagine being given a letter from GRATITUDE,
instructed to arrange a group in the order
of GRATITUDE, and then allowed one chance
to practice the "ten second draw"...
this is what our family did on the
fourth of july 2005.
without prior notice, planning or
arrangements we embarked on an
impromptu opportunity to record our
gratitude with sparkle, spunk and flair.
quite literally.
while spelling ourselves into GRATITUDE
many questions popped up,
revealing simple instructions to be
insufficient for such a grande undertaking.
Q: how big shall i make my letter?
A: belly button to chin...then our
efforts are centered in the Heart.
Q: whose view are we using,
hours or the cameras?
A: draw so others will know
gratitude when they see it.
Q: capitals or lower case?
A: let's capitalize on Gratitude
once our questions were addressed
we arranged and re-arranged our selves
three times.
first perfectly. we then incorrectly corrected
our correctness and finally returned to our
intital order of perfection.
armed with sparklers and numerous lighting
instruments we were prepared to begin.
our first run was filled with tension, doubt
and worry that our attempt at gratitude
would be unrecognizeable.
our second adventure drew out sublime.
we let go of our worry and settled into joy
as we realized it was about the
process rather than the picture.
i am ever so grateful my family
is willing to join me in this grande
attempt at artfully living gratitude!

for all our best intentions we find
expressing gratitude a bit challenging.
(but look at the 'G' and 'E'... WOW!
they prove every beginning and ending are
perfect!!!)

there once was a girl named stacey
who was prone to be cautious and lazy
her divine promptings stored
leaving her frustrated and bored
til the day she found something amazing.
gratitude.
this word she had heard many times in her life
though little attention was paid.
then one night she experienced a light
proving her life path divinely paved.
it began with a question, sincere and profound
'what is the gratitude symbol?'
before her lips finished forming the sounds
her answer proved quite simple.
her pen was moving across the paper proving
she knew without knowing she knew.
before her eyes gratitude was artfully grooving
forming the symbol her perfect heart drew.
for weeks this same enigmatic configuration
has been popping up in all her art.
acccepting at once the divine confirmation
it was time for her Love Work to start.
from that moment on her attentions were drawn
to a multitude of gifts and suprises.
these promptings beckoned serendipity on
and washed her clean of her vices.
no longer prone to procrastination's call
she found joy and passion abound.
now everywhere, whether large or small
signs of living gratitude were found.
'follow this path, for it leads to YOU'
her pure heart championed each day.
'share this gift so others may too
remember gratitude is the Way.'
for giving is living in loving time
through presently offered service.
extending beyond the self sublime
allowing heaven to cover earth's surface.
'i am centered in gratitude', this is true.
whether by spelling, choice or change.
by living and giving in gratitude
all possibilities are presently arranged.

i woke up suddenly last night
saying 'i am centered in gratitude'.
check the spelling...it's
been write before my very
eyes and i've just noticed.
i love surprises!
wrap yourself in gratitude. begin in the egg,
move out and around til you are complete.
fairly simple and common enough
to strike a chord of rememberance.
gratitude is the key to centering myself in perfection.
this symbol demanded to be born.
for weeks i drew it everywhere...over and over.
then one night i asked my sweetheart ken
"what is the symbol for gratitude?"
the moon has her symbol. air, water, fire...
hell, even prince has his own symbol.
so what about gratitude?
as i was asking the question i looked down
and realized this was what i had been drawing.
my question was answered...immediately.
notice the lower case g?
gratitude has 9 letters and the g looks like a 9.
9 is completion.
all creation begins with an idea,
an egg, a place to gestate...so does gratitude.
then the journey begins.
spiraling out into the universe in search of perfect self.
finally, one discovers the end is the beginning
and everything is complete.
gratitude.
i'm all wrapped up in it.
